  • Our Victorian Tea at the McAllister House was so much fun! It was fun to use the china and the tea set. Really gives you a thrill to think they took the same sort of teas there in that house over 100 years ago! Thanks for a great time!

Ice Cream Social – August 28

This summer’s ice cream social will be held Saturday, August 28, 2010 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Mark your calendars. There will be nickel ice cream cones as usual. Hot dogs and lemonade and brownies will also be available.

There will be face painting and visitors in Victorian dress, flute players on the porch and old cars will be parked in front. This is always a fun event so put it on your calendars now.

FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF MCALLISTER HOUSE AS A MUSEUM

In June of 2011, we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the opening of McAllister House as a museum by The National Society of The Colonial Dames in the State of Colorado. The creation of the museum was made possible by the generosity of Shepard Citations and a grant from El Pomar Foundation.

We are looking forward to commemorating this anniversary with events throughout 2011. We are also working on a book about the museum using taped conversations with Vesta Tutt made in the early 1970s. The book will include information and pictures with the goal to have this completed by December 2010.

    Yard Remodel

Drive by in June to see what wonderful things the After Hours Garden Club is doing to improve our yard, adding Victorian accuracy as well as color and beauty to the grounds.

Call the Museum at 635-7925 for details on any of these activities or to plan your own special tour and tea or lunch.
